It’s time for the 4th annual No Trash November, and this year, we’re making history again! All across Tennessee, volunteer groups are coming together to host cleanup events and be part of the solution to end littering before the holiday season begins. Whether you’re part of a group or an individual passionate about a litter-free state, this is your chance to make a real difference.
Get Involved and Be Part of the Solution with these 5 tips for No Trash November:
1. Don’t Litter – It Starts With You
One of the simplest yet most impactful things you can do is to avoid littering. Whether you’re out for a walk, having a picnic, or traveling in your car, be mindful of your waste. Dispose of trash properly. Be sure to use the proper receptacles such as dumpsters, trash cans or specifically designated recycling bins, and set an example for others. Learn how to dispose of a specific piece of trash, such as hazardous waste or old used tires, this blog has plenty of resources to help you get started.
2. See Litter? Pick It Up!
If you spot litter on the ground, take action and pick it up. Every piece of trash you remove from the environment contributes to a cleaner, safer community. Bring a bag with you when you’re out and about and make litter pickup part of your daily routine. Small actions lead to big results.
3. Participate in a No Trash November Cleanup Event
Join one of the many No Trash November cleanup events happening across Tennessee! Local volunteer groups, such as Affiliate, Grantee, Adopt-A-Highway, Youth Groups, and River Groups, organize and run these events and they are open to everyone. You can find a list of events on our website, or better yet, start your own! It’s easy to host your own cleanup event. Big or small, cleanups are a great way to connect with your community while making an immediate, visible impact.
