Vanderbilt Athletics and Nobody Trashes Tennessee team up to kickoff No Trash November

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nov. 7, 2022 – Vanderbilt Athletics is teaming up with Tennessee Department of Transportation’s (TDOT) Nobody Trashes Tennessee on Nov. 8 to kick off No Trash November, a month-long statewide initiative encouraging Tennesseans to participate in cleanup events in their communities.

“Everyone plays a role in keeping our state clean and safe and we are pleased to have so many of our student-athletes participating in the No Trash November cleanup,” said Vanderbilt Athletic Director Candice Lee. Student-athletes will be cleaning up around the campus on Nov. 8 cleanup from 1 –2:30 p.m. Cleanup participants will meet at The McGugin Center at 2601 Jess Neely Dr. where they will receive cleanup supplies and safety instruction.

“We are thrilled to have Vanderbilt Athletics as a No Trash November campaign partner,” said Denise Baker, transportation program supervisor, TDOT. “Vanderbilt is joining volunteers from across the state that are coming together in November to help us in our mission to prevent and reduce litter in Tennessee.”

Last year’s inaugural campaign included more than 1,000 volunteers who collected more than 46,000 pounds of litter from the state’s roadways. In partnership with Keep Tennessee Beautiful (KTnB) and Adopt-A-Highway groups, residents are invited to join public events being held across the state.

Campaign tools and resources including a cleanup location map and a trash tracker measuring pounds collected are also available. All residents are encouraged to show their support for a litter-free Tennessee by using the #NobodyTrashesTennessee and #NoTrashNovember hashtags in social media to highlight their litter prevention actions throughout the month.
